Challenge #10: The PicLetters
At last! Walking through Montreal Downtown, I encountered this lovely 1% around a corner. (Note: In Québec, 1% of the budget in any public construction project has to go to some form of visual art accompanying the project, thus we affectionately call them “1 percents”)

Challenge #10 : The PicLetters
Going on a small hike with friends this weekend, I finally found the letter that was eluding me the most.
I encountered some ski racks..
And finally.. here was my elusive letter K! Read more

Challenge #6: Straddle Press to Handstand
Freestanding handstand is progressing at a very noticeable pace. I finally got to shoot myself holding it for more than 5 seconds!
The video cannot be shown at the moment. Please try again later.
Moreover, I recently watched Logan Christopher’s take on Press to Handstand progressions. Now that I’m able to do full handstand push-ups, I started touching again a beginner’s balancing position, the Frog Stand, as a way to start working on the pressing up. The first step is to just get off the knees and try to hold there. Believe me, I shall need to build strength in that area. Read more

Challenge #10: The PicLetters
ARTISTICAL SURGE! Why, yes, I found a new letter.
Last Friday, I was smoothly walking down the street, tasting the sun and all… The morrow after a quick and stormy thunderstorm. It was windy, too. Thus, I came upon this:
which I found funny and posted on Facebook, of course.
But, voilà! Revert it vertically and you get… Read more

A short but awesome week again. I’ll have a season-sized serving of the summer I’ve got so far, if you please.
Challenge #6: Straddle Press to Handstand
Still progressing on my handstand push-ups, I am now able to touch my head on the ground with hands at normal width!
The video cannot be shown at the moment. Please try again later.
Now, I would say that I can successfully do full handstand push-ups at last, but one thing tough. For some time now I’ve been practicing with my legs bent, feet on the wall, so that their adherence to the wall wouldn’t impede the fluidity of the movement. As I tried the full movement, socks on, with legs fully extended and close to the wall, I couldn’t complete the movement. Therefore there’s still some work to be done before the milestone is achieved, but I’ve never been this close to it.
I’ve also been practicing the kick-ups and balance per se, which I also feel are getting better. I hope I can crank a video soon, with me balancing for a couple of seconds at least.
Challenge #10: The PicLetters
I went through my Parkour Meet weekend photos, and managed to find two letters after all! Here they come:

This is gonna be a quick report; it was intended for last Sunday, but time and technical constraints made it come out later. But here it finally comes.
Challenge #8: Iron cross
Recently, I started practicing the full Muscle-up movement using deload bands (and wondered at why I hadn’t thought of it before). I started off at 2 or 3 and I’m already at around 7-8 for a set; it’s getting easier.

Filming myself, I think the most important point to work on for more efficiency, is to try to keep closer to the bar, so as to eliminate the superfluous back-and-forth movement away from it. For some reason though, so far it has seemed more natural for me to do the movement like this, despite attempts at aiming my head to cross the bar at the top. I shall analyze further why that is the case.
Challenge #10: The Picletters
Hey I guess I’m on a spree these days. Last week I went to Chicago for work; those pictures were taken really fast, on the spot as we had very little time to visit downtown. As a side comment, Read more

Challenge #6 : Straddle Press to Handstand
I told you last week I had successfully touched my head on a handstand (wide) push-up. Here’s a video with some more of them.

I feel presses and core work are what’s going to work better for a while, so I’ll be concentrating on that.

Challenge #6: Straddle Press to Handstand
Here’s the latest hold PR… 17 seconds!

I’ve also found another way to work the press transition, using parallel dip bars. Currently, all I’m able to do is lift my hips up to parallel, while bending my arms. Goal would be to: Read more

Challenge #6 : Straddle Press to Handstand
Elbow Planche: I got it! 67 seconds max hold, effectively adding 9 seconds to my last record and blasting the goal away. On to the next step of learning hand balanding: trying it out as much as possible!
The video cannot be shown at the moment. Please try again later.
Tuck Planche: 11 seconds! Steady progress. I’ve been experimenting with movements and variations based on Darryl’s work, but Read more

Hope you’re having a good weekend! Mine is all about schoolwork. And even then, I wish I had more time for it.
Challenge #6: Straddle Press to Handstand
Added another second to my Tuck Planche. Not the best stability on this one, but I do feel progressively more secure on the position.
The video cannot be shown at the moment. Please try again later.
I think however that I should test/practice it more often. This doesn’t take a big toll on my body, it’s really just about building the strength to hold it. It should allow me to add the seconds more quickly.

I have never gotten this close to a full muscle-up: Read more
